The New Zealand Health Workforce Framing Future Directions Discussion Document
Date of Publication: October 2002
Framing Future Directions sets out the six priority areas that the Health Workforce Advisory Committee believe need to be addressed to deal with critical issues facing the health workforce.
The committee has a commitment to the long-term nurturing of the health workforce. We have taken a strategic approach to workforce development and one that recognises the need for evolutionary change, which involves all stakeholders in devising solutions. We believe that this will lead to development of a sustainable workforce capable of meeting all New Zealanders health needs into the future and provide satisfying careers for health practitioners. Framing Future Directions outlines the key issues, asks the reader to ponder questions and consider the suggested next steps.
The results of the consultation process can be reviewed in The New Zealand Health Workforce - Framing Future Directions, Analysis of Submissions and Draft Recommendations to the Minister of Health for Health Workforce Development (PDF, 215 kB).
